| History of Rose |
|
In the legends, there is nothing about the appearance of the rose;only in the Indian myths is told that the most beautiful woman in the world – Lakshmi was born by rose flower with 108 large and 1608 small rose petals. Vishnu, the keeper of the universe, saw the magnificent beauty in her rose cradle, woke her up with a kiss and took her to be his wife. From that moment Lakshmi became the god of the beauty, and the rose leaf-bud – symbol of the goodness secret, for all eastern nations it became sacred. One of the legends about the cross of the Saver tells us about the moss rose. The blood from Christ was flowing down from the cross. Angels took it in golden chalice. Bur a couple of drops fell on the green muss, which covered them by absorbing in itself. A wonderful muss rose had grown there, which bright red color reminds us about the Christ’s blood, shed for our sins. By the words of Persian poets, it is a gift from the Allah himself. Once, all flowers went to him and begged to pick another leader instead of the lotus. It (the lotus) was wonderful, but at the night he forgets his obligations as a leader. Then Allah gave the new leader for the flowers – the white virgin rose with her sharp pricks for protection. The nightingale fell in love about the new queen and tried to hug her close to his chest. But the sharp pricks stick in his heart and bright red blood gush out from his heart. That’s why, according to the Persian legend, from then to nowadays many of the outside leafs of the rose are carrying this pink color…Turkish also took the love and adoration from the Persian; we can also say all Mohammedans who believe, according to the Koran, that the white rose grew up from the drops of sweat from Mohamed in his night ascend of the sky. That’s why the rose has purify power, and no Mohammedan could even think about treading on rose. Probably that’s why that purify power is transferred to the rose water too. |
The first knowledge about the rose we got from the ancient Indian legends, which told us about the great honor which the rose had. There was even a law – everyone who brings a rose to the king, could ask him whatever he wants. With roses they had decorated the royal chamber and were used for paying taxes and duties.
